JABA FISH Program
If you like working with children, become a FISH (Friends In Schools Helping) volunteer and tutor reading or math, or help a new child adjust to school. Perhaps you speak Spanish or another language. Tutoring English as a Second Language is in high demand.

Do you have a special talent or skill you would like to contribute? Do you like working with older adults, youth, or contributing to meet our communities’ needs? JABA will find a volunteer opportunity for you in one of our many programs or at one of over 100 other nonprofit agencies in the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson.
JABA sponsors the RSVP Program, which is America’s largest volunteer network for people 55 years of age and over.
Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) volunteers conduct safety patrols for local police departments, participate in environmental projects, tutor and mentor youth, respond to natural disasters, and provide other services through more than 1,500 groups across Virginia.
